The healthcare sector has outpaced the S&P 500 so far this year, amid excitement around new drug development. Leah Bennett of Concurrent told Reuters drug companies raised over $50 billion of new investment in 2020, and they’ve used it since in developing mRNA technologies that were originally used for Covid vaccines, but which have since turned out to have crucial applications for cancer and other diseases.
